Field Trip Program 2007

We have an exciting field trip schedule lined up for 2007 with trips of varying technical difficulty ranging from a sedate underground tram ride through easy walking to moderate vertical trips.

Full details will be posted here soon, but rest assured our team is working flat out to bring you the best possible underground experience!

To give you an idea of what we have in mind a provisional underground field trip list has been scheduled which should include Devon Great Consols & Frementor , Bedford United & Old Gunnislake, Walkham Valley & Virtuous Lady, Dyers - Thomas exchange (Ding Dong), Kit Hill No.1 & Quarry Lode No.2, Bedford Consols & Wheal Russell, Wheal Crowndale & Bedford Consols.

Above ground there will be a guided tour around Morwellham Quay and a guided walk along sections of the Tavistock Canal with commentary on it’s history and archaeology by Robert Waterhouse. Further surface trips will be added as they are confirmed but should include the Bere Peninsular mines (Lead/Silver).

If there are sufficient delegates (and subject to landowner consent) we might also run field trips to Penn Recca Slate Mine & Haytor Iron Mine, Kelly Mine & Great Rock, and Wheal Gorland.

In addition to the weekend field trip program we will be running coach trips on Monday 18th to visit the other two World Heritage Site areas in this region - Camborne & St Just to visit South Crofty & King Edward Mine, and Geevor & Levant.
